Do we offer fabric samples?

We have thousands of premium fabric designs on offer, and appreciate that it is not always easy to pick out the perfect one from a visual. We do our best to ensure that our photos are as true to colour as possible. However, due to variations of colour settings, digital photography and qualities of phone / tablet / computer screens, it is unavoidable that colours will appear differently for everyone. We cannot guarantee that the colour you see accurately portrays the colour of the fabric. 

 

Therefore, we offer free sampling once you have narrowed down your choice. You can order up to 5 samples for free.

 

Sample sizes are approximately 10 x 15cm, and are usually dispatched within 2 working days via Royal Mail. 

Do we have any measuring guides?

We have crafted some handy curtains & blinds measuring guides to assist with the measuring of all window types. We also provide measuring guides for curtain poles and tracks, so you can measure for any required hardware.

 

What should I consider when buying curtains?

When purchasing curtains, there are several important factors to consider to ensure they are suited for your requirements. These factors include:

 

  1. Fabrics: The selection of fabric is primarily a matter of personal preference, but we would advise you to consider your choices in light of your intended use and the season.

  2. Curtain Headings: Different curtain headings, such as eyelet, pencil pleat, or wave, affect the overall style and functionality of your curtains. Be sure to choose one that suits your unique space and the way you want your curtains to hang.

  3. Curtain Width & Curtain Drop: You will need to ensure the curtains are wide enough to cover your window and long enough to reach the floor or desired length. Make sure to measure your windows using our measuring guides to collect accurate measurements.

  4. Lining Information: Curtains can have various linings, including standard cotton, blackout, thermal, and even interlinings. Choose the lining that best fits your seasonal needs, with light control or insulation.

  5. Curtain Tracks or Curtain Poles: Your curtains can be hung via tracks or poles, so be sure to assess the differences and choose the style that best suits you. Consider factors like curtain weight, fabric style, and how the curtains will be mounted over the windows.

 

Taking these factors into account will help you make an informed decision when buying curtains.

What are the differences between lining types?

Linings for curtains & blinds offer various benefits and comes in various different types:

 

  • Woven Poly Cotton Lining: This lining combines cotton and polyester for a luxurious, draping effect while providing insulation properties.

  • Silky Soft Blackout Lining: This blackout lining blocks out most light and maintains a smooth, fluid appearance. It's great for bedrooms and helps insulate the room.

  • Premium Luxe Thermal Lining: Curtains & blinds lined with thermal lining increase energy efficiency by reflecting heat back into the room in winter (and back out during the summer).

  • Interlining: Interlining, positioned between the main fabric and lining, enhances volume, fullness, and insulation. It creates beautifully draped, rounded pleats and enhances volume and fullness of your curtain.

 

Each type of lining has its unique advantages, so be sure to choose the one that best suits your needs and preferences.

What is meant by the curtain ‘heading’? And how should I choose?

The curtain heading refers to the top part of a curtain where it attaches to the curtain pole or track. The choice of heading style can impact the overall style and function of your curtains. Here are some options and considerations:

 

  • Eyelet: Ideal for a modern, simplistic look with a natural wave effect. Easy to install, no hooks or rings required. Suitable for smaller poles.

  • Pencil Pleat: Versatile and suitable for various settings. Creates tightly gathered pleats with a shallow heading. Works with tracks or poles with rings. Suitable for all fabric designs.

  • Double and Triple Pinch Pleat: Offers an elegant and sophisticated look with full, luxurious pleats. Works well on both tracks and poles with rings. Allows for precise curtain length adjustment.

  • Wave Heading: Creates a smooth, elegant look with uniform folds and a stunning ripple effect. Requires a special wave track. Works with patterned and plain fabrics, but consider the impact of patterns when the curtain is open.

 

Choose a heading style that complements your space and suits your functional requirements.

What is meant by 'curtain fullness'?

The curtain fullness will determine how luxurious your curtains will look. Curtain fullness describes the number of times more fabric than the width of  your pole or track. We manufacture all our curtains to a minimum of double fullness. This means that we will double your track / pole length and gather this amount of fabric into the pleats / folds. 

 

The majority of fabrics are supplied at 140cm wide and to make curtains of a width of more than 70cm will require joining fabric widths together; therefore you will have a seam. Be assured that we will take extra special care with seams and ensure where possible that they are hidden in the folds of the fabric to make them less visible when hung. 

Should I have my curtains on a pole or a track?

When it comes to hanging your curtains, you have two main options: curtain poles or curtain tracks. Although they both serve the same purpose, you may want to consider the below when making your choice.  

 

Curtain Poles  

  • Curtain poles are a decorative way to hang your curtains – perfect to make a statement. Paired with your chosen fabric and the right set of finials, a pole can make a perfect design feature. They will create a focal point and enhance the overall effect of your curtains.  

  • Our poles come in a variety of colours and finishes, allowing you to choose the perfect pole colour and finials to match your décor. If you want a style choice, curtain poles are the right choice for you!

  • A pole is the only choice for hanging eyelet curtains as the eyelet holes are threaded onto the pole. Our eyelet curtains are manufactured using 40mm eyelets, and so will fit a pole up to 35mm. If you have a pole of more than 30mm diameter then please get in touch for a bespoke quote.

  • Poles complement all other gathered heading types well, and will require rings to hang your curtains. All Just poles are supplied with rings, finials and brackets.

  • As with tracks, poles can be placed high above the window to create an illusion of height, which is often a good option for smaller windows. Curtain poles are fitted above the window on the facing wall, so you will need to ensure you have enough space for the brackets and to offer the pole onto them. 

 

Curtain Tracks

  • Tracks are a more discrete, contemporary way of hanging your curtains as they are less visible than poles. The subtlety of a track enables your curtains to be the focus – particularly if you want to make a fabulous statement with a striking fabric colour or pattern! 

  • Tracks provide a smooth, effortless operation, and are suitable for all curtain headings, except eyelets. Wave heading curtains must be hung on a special discreet track that has specially designed gliders to hold the desired wave effect when drawn– hence the reason why we supply a free track with every Wave curtain ordered. 

  • As curtain tracks are available in any lengths they offer more design flexibility; extending your curtains from floor to ceiling and from wall to wall, surrounding your window, can often make your window and room look bigger. This design is a stunning way to add texture, depth and colour to your space.
     
  • Our curtain tracks are supplied with gliders and universal brackets; this means that you have the option to fix your track to the ceiling or the facing wall above the window. A ceiling fixed track is exactly what it says it is…. A track mounted to the ceiling with the curtain hanging below it! This method of fitting is a smart solution as it helps to lengthen the space and create an illusion of height. A ceiling fixed track is the perfect answer if the space above your window is limited.  

What is meant by inside or outside recess?

The recess (or sometimes known as window reveal) refers to the wall opening where the glazed window fits; the bit the interior windowsill sits on. A blind fitted inside the recess will be smaller than one fitted outside. 

 

Inside Recess

Wood Venetian and Roman blinds fitted inside recess create a classic, clean look. They would be fitted to the top of the recess, blending seamlessly into the room design. 

 

Points to consider with inside recess blinds: 

  • When the blind is raised / open, the stack of the blind will partially cover some of the glass, which could impinge upon both your view and how much natural light can get in. 

  • If your window opens inwards, blinds fitted inside the recess may impact on their functionality. 

  • If you want to use the windowsill for ornaments they may obstruct the drawing of the blind. 

  • You may not achieve a full blackout as there will be a small amount of light leakage down the sides of the blinds. 

  • You are able to further dress the window with curtains outside the recess.  

  • You need to ensure the depth of your recess is deep enough to fit the blind. A minimum of 5cm is required for a Roman blind, and 6.5cm for a Wooden Venetian. 

 

 

Outside Recess


Outside recess blinds are larger than the actual window itself and are fitted on the wall above the window. They can add a real feature to a room as they are more prominent than an inside recess blind. 

 

Points to consider with outside recess blinds: 

  • You can choose the size of the blind you would like depending upon the amount of wall either side of the window. 

  • Mounting the blind high above the recess will allow maximum light to enter the room when they are open. 

  • As the blind is wider than the window recess, when drawn down, the overlap will block out the majority of light. Remember if you require full blackout you will also need to choose a blackout lining.
     
  • When the blind is fully closed any ornaments or objects on display will be hidden. 

How safe are our blinds?

All of our blinds are quality checked and compliant with British Safety Standard BS EN13120. We also supply relevant safety devices and information if your blinds come with hanging cords or loops. For the safety of children, we always recommend that all cords are kept out of reach once fitted.

How should I care for my curtains / blinds?

By following these care and maintenance guidelines, you'll keep your Just curtains & blinds looking exquisite for years to come.

 


Curtains

 

At Just, we believe in the longevity and beauty of your bespoke curtains. To ensure they stand the test of time, here are some care and maintenance tips:

 

  • Avoid Washing: We understand the desire to keep everything pristine, but washing your curtains might not be the best approach. Some fabrics are more susceptible to water stains, so we recommend steering clear of both washing and steaming. Instead, opt for regular cleaning methods that preserve the fabric's integrity.

  • Dry Cleaning Expertise: If you are contemplating dry cleaning, we advise seeking the expertise of a professional in the field. Different fabrics and linings may react uniquely to various cleaning methods. Consulting with a dry-cleaning expert ensures that your curtains receive the specialized care they deserve, enhancing their lifespan.

  • Gentle Vacuuming: Maintain the freshness of your curtains by incorporating regular, gentle vacuuming into your cleaning routine. Use a vacuum with a hose or a soft brush attachment to delicately remove dust and debris from the fabric. This simple step helps to preserve the fabric's texture and appearance.

 

 

Roman Blinds

We recommend that our blinds be dusted monthly to prevent dirt build-up on the surface. You can do this in a number of ways:

  • Vacuuming it by dropping the blind closed and using a vacuum hose/soft brush attachment to clean dust away.

  • For dry cleaning, speak to a dry-clean expert as some fabrics may not be suitable.

 

 

Wooden Venetian Blinds

  • Dust Removal: To keep your blinds looking their best, regular dusting is essential. Dust can accumulate on the slats over time. Use a soft, dry cloth or a duster to gently wipe down the individual slats. Be sure to reach all slats to remove any dust and debris.

  • Stain or Spot Cleaning: In case of spills or stains, address them promptly to prevent them from setting. Use a soft cloth dampened with a mild wood cleaner or a mixture of water and a small amount of mild detergent. Wipe the affected area gently and then dry it with a clean, dry cloth.

  • Cord and Mechanism Care: Regularly inspect the cords, pulleys, and mechanisms of your Wooden Venetian blinds for any signs of wear or damage.

How can I place an order?

Orders for your handcrafted curtains, blinds and cushions are submitted via our innovative visualiser. Explore and compare various curtain/blind types & our extensive range of fabrics, in real time, to discover the style for you. Once you've found your perfect combination, our intuitive interface will guide you through customisation options, such as measurements and additional hardware & extras. Then, when you’re satisfied with your choices, proceed to the checkout, where you can review your order details and finalise your purchase.

What do I do if my product is faulty / damaged?

All Just Furnishings products are rigorously quality checked before dispatch but in the unlikely event that you experience any problems please e-mail us at help@justfurnishings.co.uk or call our customer service team.

 

You have 7 days following receipt of your order to reject any damaged or defective goods due to manufacturing, or damage caused during the delivery process, but we ask that you report any issues to us as soon as possible. We will deal with your queries promptly and if necessary arrange for a repair or for an exact replacement to be sent.

 

Once a fault is reported, the 7 day rejection period will be paused, and once your repaired product or exact replacement is received you will then have either a further 7 days, or the remainder of your 7 day rejection period (whichever is longer) to decide whether our remedy has been successful or to reject the goods. We reserve the right to ask for digital pictures with regards to the issues reported or to ask for the product to be returned to us for inspection. This does not affect your statutory rights.

My order is the wrong size – what can I do?

Many of the goods we sell are made according to your sizes. It is your responsibility to take the correct measurements of your window, curtain pole or track. If you are unsure about any products or how to measure please call our customer services team for help before ordering or consult the online measuring guides.

 You must check the product details and measurements of the goods before placing your order online or by phone and are responsible for checking the order via the email confirmation. In line with the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, we cannot accept returns or refund the money if you have given us incorrect measurements as we will not be able to resell the goods as they are made to measure.

 

If the product has been manufactured incorrectly, you have 7 days following receipt of your order to reject any defective goods. All Just Furnishings products are rigorously quality checked before dispatch but in the unlikely event that you experience any problems please e-mail us at help@justfurnishings.co.uk or call our customer service team.

Do you offer a measuring and fitting service?

We can offer a measuring and fitting service. However, the availability and specific details may vary depending on your location and the type of product you are interested in.

Are your products covered by a manufacturer's guarantee?

Yes, Just Furnishings offer a 12 month manufacturer's guarantee on manufacturing faults. In addition we offer a limited guarantee for a further four years making a total of 5 years. We reserve the right to either replace or repair the product and it may be necessary to return the goods to us for inspection prior to an exact replacement product being despatched. This does not affect your statutory rights.

What is your Returns Policy?

Made to measure products are customised to your specific requirements and, once made, are unique to you. Therefore, they cannot be canceled or returned. We strongly advise you to use our free sample service to ensure you are satisfied with the fabric and have collected the correct measurements before placing an order.

 

For stock items like pole sets, we accept returns within 14 working days of delivery, provided the items are unused and in resalable condition. Contact us before returning your items, so we can recommend using a courier service to ensure safe return. Upon receiving and confirming the items are in resalable condition, we will issue a full refund, including the original delivery fee. Please note that we do not refund the cost of returning the items to us.

How can I amend my order once it has been placed?

When ordering your goods you are agreeing to a legally binding contract. According to the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, made to measure goods, e.g. curtains, are excluded from this legislation and the 14 day cancellation rights do not apply. Cancellations are still possible and a full refund will be issued as long as products or parts of them have not been made. In the event that your goods have already been made we are unable to refund your money. Contact us as soon as possible if you wish to cancel or change an order and we can check if the order has gone into production. We strongly advise that you check the email confirmation of your order to ensure that you have placed the order correctly.

How can I track my order?

Stay in control of your order and ensure a smooth delivery experience by easily tracking it through our courier service. This way, you can stay informed and avoid any missed deliveries or stay updated on potential delays. You will receive a confirmation email with the tracking details, after submitting your order.

How long will delivery take?

We estimate a delivery time within 10 working days from the moment payment reaches our bank account (usually within 24 hours of order confirmation). The specified delivery terms do not apply during busy times of the year, e.g. bank holidays and the Christmas period. Business days and working days refer to Monday-Friday, which excludes the day of posting, weekends, and Bank Holidays in the UK and abroad. A more specific delivery date is available from the order tracking login once the order has been dispatched. 

I have only received part of my delivery?

If you've ordered more than one item from Just, rest assured that they are on their way to you! Our products are carefully packaged and, if your order consists of multiple items, they may be shipped in separate boxes. It's quite common for courier companies to split deliveries based on box sizes, so there's no need to worry if they don't arrive together.

 

To track the status of each package, we recommend using the courier's tracking link provided in your order confirmation email. This will give you real-time updates on the transit of each box. In the rare event that a package seems to be missing or delayed, please reach out to the courier directly for assistance. They'll be more than happy to help you locate and ensure the safe delivery of your Just bespoke blinds, cushions, or curtains.
