Unveiling our Exquisite Fabrics

All our fabrics & linings are sourced from top UK suppliers and handpicked for their quality and durability, made to withstand the test of time.

Fabric Types

Weaves

Due to the nature of some weave constructions, raised yarns/threads may pull or tear if caught on jewellery, buttons or other sharp objects. We also advise you to choose fabric appropriately with consideration of pets in the home/environment.

Linens

Linen is made from the fibre of the flax plant. It is highly absorbent and durable and is one of the strongest natural fibres with two to three times the strength of cotton. However linen has poor elasticity and does not spring back readily, making it prone to wrinkles and creases.

Cottons

Cotton is a very strong fibre and stands up to abrasion to wear very well. Cotton is also an absorbent fibre, but not very resilient and therefore prone to wrinkles. As cotton can withstand relatively high heat, ironing easily smooths wrinkles. Steam should be avoided to prevent shrinkage.

Velvets and Piles

Velvet and pile fabrics (e.g. chenille and microfibre suede) may show variations in colour and texture with the intention to create a more luxurious appearance. The yarns in these fabrics flatten and move creating irregular surface appearance and texture. These surface variations are the nature of the fabric and should not be considered faulty or defective. Pile distortion alters the angle of light reflection producing more obvious areas where the fabric has moved creating an appearance of shading or napping.

Sheers and Voiles

Sheer Voile is a soft fabric, usually made of cotton, or cotton blended with linen or polyester. it is a transparent, lightweight fabric that acts as a wonderful light filter. A sheer curtain would still allow sunlight to enter your room, but would act as a light diffuser, softening the natural light. Sheer Voiles are a great choice for elevating a room and adding light, flowing texture. They are popularly used to provide a level of daytime privacy without blocking out the light.

  • Colours

We do our best to ensure our photography is as true to the colours of our fabrics as possible. But studio lighting and variations in phone, tablet and computer displays mean it is impossible to be 100% accurate. To get a real feel for your favourite fabric make the most of our free sampling service.

  • Movement

We recommend curtains are left to hang for at least 3 months to acclimatise to their environment. Some fabrics react to dryness, heat and humidity in the air, which can result in minor shrinking or stretching when the curtains are first hung. Often this will be reversed when weather and atmospheric conditions change.

  • Staining

Some Fabrics will stain if they come into contact with water and should be kept away from steam and other sources of moisture
