Help for Wooden Venetian Blinds
Inside Recess
A blind fitted inside the recess will obviously be smaller than one fitted outside – away from your window and against the internal wall of your room. Wood Venetian and Roman blinds fitted inside the recess create a clean and classical look. Fitted at the inside-top of the recess, they seamlessly blend into a room’s décor. Make sure your recess is deep enough to fit your blind – a minimum depth of 5cm for Roman blinds and 6.5cm for Venetian blinds will be needed.
Points to consider:
When raised or open, the blind stack will partially cover some of the glass, which may affect your view and the amount of natural light that comes in. Inside recess blinds may obstruct inward-opening windows, window handles or nearby fixtures and ornaments you may have in the recess. Full blackout may also not be achieved with this kind of fitting as small amounts of light do filter down the sides.
An inside recess blind also gives you the freedom to further dress your window with curtains outside the recess.
Outside Recess
A blind fitted outside the recess will be larger than the window and fitted above it on the wall around the recess. They make a standout feature as they are more prominent than inside recess blinds.
Points to consider:
Your blind size will be determined by the amount of wall you have around your window. Fitting the blind high above the recess allows maximum light entry when it is open. Due to the overlap across the recess, more light is naturally blocked out with this fitting choice. A full blackout can be achieved with Roman blinds outside the recess by choosing a blackout lining.
Quality & Safety
All of our blinds are quality checked and compliant with British Safety Standard BS EN13120. We also supply relevant safety devices and information if your blinds come with hanging cords or loops. For the safety of children, we always recommend that all cords are kept out of reach once fitted.
